From the Bottle to the Plate, Use Wine in Your Next Dish

Finding the perfect bottle of wine to pair with the best cuisine is a crucial part of an enjoyable dining experience.  Have you ever thought about taking wine pairing to the next level by choosing the perfect wine to cook with?  Now’s the time to start pouring this secret ingredient into your life and food!

Wine has become a popular ingredient in many different food dishes.  Cooking with wine at home isn't a new concept, but now more and more people are incorporating the flavorful additive using wine sauces for great taste.

How do you know if you should use red or white?  There are different ways to pick the perfect wine to mix with your dishes.  Reds bring out the colors and essence of the food, while adding a dry, less sugary taste.  Reds are best added to dishes with red meat or a lot of vegetables, such as stews.  White wine alters the food by adding a strike of fresh acidic flavor enhancing the dishes natural sharpness.  White wines are best cooked with chicken, fish and used for cream sauces.

The Siena Restaurant at The Meritage is now featuring a menu gathered from California’s finest ingredients inspired by Tuscany.  One of the delicious dishes that incorporate wine is the Slow Roasted Pork “Prime Rib”, made with Madeira wine sauce.
