Napa, Calif.—April 23, 2008- A new trend has emerged in couple’s vacationing. New parents are planning “Babymoons,” or pre-baby vacations that are designed to give parents time to relax as a couple before their baby arrives. The Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa is catering to these individuals with an exquisite package that will make their trip memorable.

The Meritage’s Babymoon package includes a two-night stay at the resort with a soothing, bubble foot soak for two, followed by a 50-minute Mammina massage for her and a relaxation massage for him in the resort’s Portofino Couple’s Room within Spa Terra.  During the stay, guests will receive a delicious 24-hour “Cravings” basket as well as a continental breakfast served in bed each morning. Author, Sheila Kitzinger, first coined the term babymoon in her book, The Year After Childbirth, when describing the period of bonding between parents and their newborn. Recently, the term has evolved to include time spent together before the baby arrives. In a recent poll, Babycenter.com reported 66% of their participants have taken a babymoon or would like to in the future.
